An essay is, in general an essay that presents the writer’s argument, however often the definition is so vague, that the essay itself may be formal or informal, over-defined or too broad. In the beginning of the English language, essays were known as courtly writings. These writings were generally addressed to members of a society such as a lady, or a gentleman, or clergyman. Since the beginning of the century saw the first recorded forms of writing in Egyptian papyrus, the term “writing” does not necessarily mean that there exists a particular type of writing. Writing was used to record information in clay, pottery, stone, cloth, and metal. Since then, it has been an essential to oral communication.
Essays are written for various reasons, such as the writing of a thesis statement, support of an argument research for an essay and literature review, explanation writing and many more. An understanding of the requirements for writing an essay will assist individuals in selecting the topic and completing the required number of paragraphs. The paragraphs and topics can be rearranged to present the full purpose of the essay.

One more aspect of essay writing that must be highlighted is word choice. Word choice can have an impact on the meaning and purpose. It is crucial to use the right words. The correct use of a word can mean the difference between a properly written essay and one that is poorly written. The choice of words must also be determined by the subject of the essay as well as the writer’s opinion about the best words to use to tackle the subject.
It is important to understand the structure of academic essays. It is essential to arrange the paragraphs in a way that is easy to read and understand the entire essay. The paragraphs should cover all aspects of the subject, with the exception for those that contradict one the other.
